These are performed in controlled environments and protocols or simulated laboratory environments focusing on how system performance and design features impact trust. Trust-based automation frameworks were presented investigating calibrated trust matching users' trust level to systems' capabilities, use of trust-based cognitive clues, using a Mercedes Benz E -Class in a controlled environment to design and implement trust factors, designing automotive user interfaces for calibrated trust design, designing of the autonomous underwater robot, harnessing multimodal sensor data from the car and handheld device, developing a dynamic Bayesian model of trust, use of JR robots with user interfaces, acceptance and long-term use of a social robot by elderly users and other trust models describing the dynamics of trust, and autoregressive moving average. These studies also examined various concerns and challenges, including safety, liability, privacy, cyber security, policy and regulations. Earlier studies individually explored a few HMI endogenous trust influencing factors of performance expectancy and reliability, anthropomorphism, Feedback, Situational Awareness, mental model, training of driver, adaptive automaton, customization.
Additionally, we detail the methodological approach taken, including the infrastructure required to implement it. Overall, we report findings on various mobile office interface modalities and combinations concerning their impact on ergonomics factors such as performance, workload, situational awareness, and well-being. By changing the driver's role to that of the \emph theory and applied research findings in a novel and complex domain. Rising levels of driving automation on the road may initiate a similar shift. The widespread implementation of mobile personal computing devices like notebooks and smartphones has changed knowledge work towards more mobility beyond the traditional office desk.
